There’s more to me than just therapy

Being a therapist is a big part of my identity, but it’s not all there is to know about me. I believe that a connection with your therapist is the most important predictor of successful therapeutic outcomes, so it’s important to see if we match as people, not just as client and professional.

Originally, I am from the Napa Valley where I lived for most of my childhood and teenage years. From there, I headed south to UC Santa Barbara for undergrad, where I played water polo and overestimated my ability to party and maintain good mental health. I took a brief pause (dropped out) during undergrad and moved to San Francisco, CA with 2 of my best friends for one of the most fun and most transformative years of my life. After that, I begrudgingly finished my BA back at UCSB, closing out my time there with a semester abroad in Santiago, Chile, where I returned the following year to teach English. I learned Spanish fluently and fell in love with Chilean culture.

After some time back in Napa to gather my thoughts, I applied for graduate school and found my way to Austin, TX where I lived with a friend I had met abroad. I’ve been here for 11 years with tons of memories, new friends, and a marriage now under my belt.

On an average day you might find me doing any or all of the following: going on a walk at Mary Moore Searight park, binging one of the several Bravo shows I love (legend has it I was one of the last people to score a photo at Schwartz & Sandy’s, IYKYK), taking a dip at the YMCA, cooking a delicious meal for friends from one of my many cookbooks (just something about a cookbook), heading to the Alamo Drafthouse to watch a movie with my husband, or frantically finishing off the book club book of the month. I’m a fan of good food, good people, and good experiences. If I sound like someone you might click with, let me know and let’s start working together.
